Spring is Around the Corner

Prayer and Praise:

In the past few weeks it appears that we are moving into warmer weather and winter is getting behind us.

July, August, and September are the three coldest months in Lima.

With all of our relationships there is always that three steps up and one step back process that takes place in a relationship.  We are thankful to God for all of the peoplee  He has brought into our lives.

Please pray for the Nikkei and the Japanese.  Thier world view does not normally include a Creator God and we have the opportunity to tell them about how much God loves them.  Every day it is a blessing when people say, "I understand".  We are praying for the day that many of these Bible students, English Students, Business:(Best Practices) Students, Friends, Etc will understand and receive the gift that God is offering them.

The Japanese culture is all about being a member of their culture.  The sad thing is that you are many lonely individuals inside this large number of people where the vast majority don't have any concept of God's existence.

Pray that the Japanese and Nikkei would recognize God's love can be seen in so many ways all around them.

A Cold Winter in Lima

Prayer and Praise:

Our new relationship with the T family has  gone  well.  The girls (M and M) did not get in school but they scored well enough to get  in the English program at the school. Hopefully, they will be able to enter school in the next semester.  We spent at least 5 days a week with these girls and their need to learn English has given us a bridge to create a relationship with their family.  We have also been able to teach them a great deal about the Bible and God's Story of Love for all People.
We are going to be continuing this study on Monday and Friday's.  Please pray for all of these teenagers and their families.  We have another meeting tomorrow with another mother about adding her son to the group.  Pray that we will be able to add more and more students.

Also, we recently were able to take part and have a "Best Practice"  business presentation.  The results after this meeting were very good.  The people responded very positively to the e perspectives that were presented.  And they have responded very well to the spiritual perspectives that were introduced.  In some cases creating deeper spiritual conversations about God.  (It is good to have people engaged spiritually.  These are good first steps.

Please pray for our children.  Luke has started his Senior year of high school.

We are studying 2 Corinthians in our church.  The idea of being a good ambassador (2 Cor 5:20) can be difficult to grasp.  Many things are required of an ambassador: language, culture, concern for the people and purpose.  The need of all people is to "be reconciled to God,"  There is no greater purpose than to share God's love with others.

Pray for open doors and open  hearts.  This is the coldest winter in Lima in 30 years.  Pray that people will not be cold to the Gospel, but they will be open and receptive to God's word.

City Dwelling: Many Visitors Many Opportunities Many People that need to know Jesus

We have had many visitors these past few months.  Some on vacation and the Blauser family is considering moving to Lima to work with the Nikkei.  Please pray for them.  They would be with another mission organization and needing to raise support.  We have had some expansion in our outreach ministries to college students with Matt and Joy O.  We have also had some new English students come to some of our classes and we are also expanding our classes.  We teach the Bible at these classes and we now have many people that are truly interested in Bible study and learning more about God.  Please pray for all of these people.  They are facing many various situations in their lives.  They need God's wisdom and discernment to make many decisions.  Some are new believers and have difficult decisions to make.  Many are contemplating becoming believers. Many are going through a serious family problem.  Please pray for the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of the people.

One Major Praise:

One of our Japanese English Students has accepted Christ as her personal savior.   Please pray for the H family. They are also studying the Bible with us.  Pray that God would speak to their hearts and they would see.

One Major Prayer Requests:

We have a set of sisters that have just moved to Peru.  They have an English level of 2^nd -  3^rd grade to enter the high school in 10^th and 9^th grade they must have a minimum of 8^th grade reading and language skills.    Pray for the T family.

One Major Question:

Would you pray about being involved in a mission trip to Lima, Peru to help reach out to Nikkie and Japanese people.  Please pray and if you have any questions or ideas for a mission trip please contact me.

March 2013 New Opportunities

Items to pray about:  New Bible Study Group in San Isidro, Bible Study Groups, English Classes and Tutoring.  We are trying to help work on a Nikkei evangelism event that will be occurring in South America in October and November of this year.  Please pray for all of the details from: financial, logistics, developing the cooperation of many people in many countries, etc, etc..  Pray for Matt as he studies Spanish and adjust to life overseas.

This week I believe I had some key meetings with some Nikkei leaders that a month ago I had no idea that they would be in Lima.  Please pray that some of the ministry possibilities that are being discussed will take shape and come to fruition.

Meeting new people and forming new groups.  We need wisdom and discernment when we share and how we share.   We need to be very careful to speak within a cultural contextual norm so that we can be understood.  

We need to pray and be dependent on God. Please pray for many people in our world that are lost and dying without a personal relationship with God.

PRAISE:  A young man that is a baseball coach started coming to our home after the baseball clinic for English and Bible study.  A few weeks ago he accepted Christ.  Every time he has come he has brought the same friend with him.  Please pray for his friend (T), he has yet to make a decision.

Walk in Love

The Whole Armor of God

¹⁰ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. ¹³ Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;¹⁷ and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,¹⁸ praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. The attack on the church and all things Christian seems to be relentless, but we have a special responsibility as believers to speak. 

A key question in verse 10 is, where does the strength come from?

Let us all speak in love at the appropriate moments…

Christmas Vacation and January Baseball Clinic Jan 2013

Dear Friends and Family,

We very much appreciate your prayers.  The world seems in many ways to be getting more chaotic, but we still serve a loving caring God that only wants what is best for us.

We were blessed to be in the states for our oldest sons graduation from the University of GA and to spend time with family and friends. Being in church together with family and all of our children and worshiping and praising God in English is a wonderful blessing.

The men that come to Peru to give the baseball clinic were in Lima again this year.  We had over 300 participants.  Testimonies and the gospel are shared at the end of each session.  We had over 100 Nikkei that participated in the clinic.

As people were asked if they had made a decision to follow Christ we had 67 hands raised over the course of the five days we were meeting with the Baseball teams.  Please pray for these 67 young men and women.  This year we had several girls participate.

Please pray for all of our friends as we reconnect and restart many of our English classes and Bible studies.

Please pray for a new church plant in San Isidro and for Matt, a journeyman that just joined us in Lima to also work with the Nikkei.

Also pray for missionaries and pastors we know that have some health problems.  (jp and jl)
